How to Build a Profile Employers Actually Notice

A few small profile changes can make a big difference in how often you get contacted.

Most candidate profiles are too vague. They say what someone has done without saying how well they did it or what kind of work they actually want next. Employers scroll quickly. If nothing stands out in the first few seconds, they move on.

Be Specific About What You Do

Saying you are a customer service representative is a starting point. Saying you handled inbound calls for a high-volume retail operation, resolved complaints, and consistently maintained a 95% satisfaction score is a profile. The more specific you are, the easier it is for the right employer to recognize that you are exactly what they need.

List What You Actually Want

Employers are not just looking at what you have done. They want to know if you are a fit for what they are hiring for right now. If you prefer full-time over part-time, in-person over remote, morning shifts over evenings — say so. You will get fewer contacts from employers who cannot offer what you need, and more from those who can.

Create Your Free Profile

A profile that is specific about preferences actually attracts more relevant contacts, not fewer. Clarity is not limiting — it is efficient.

Keep It Current

  • Update your availability if it changes — employers will not contact someone who appears unavailable.
  • Add any new roles, certifications, or skills you have picked up.
  • If you are no longer looking, mark yourself inactive rather than leaving a stale profile up.
  • A profile that looks recently updated signals that you are actively engaged.

Make Your Headline Work

The role title and city are often the first thing an employer sees when browsing. Use a clear job title that matches how employers in your field would search — not an internal title that only made sense at your last company. If you drove delivery vehicles, say Driver. If you managed a store floor, say Retail Supervisor. Be findable.
